In the Offenburger Schlachthof district, a new cultural and creative campus is currently taking shape, aiming to combine historic building materials with contemporary uses. To ensure that this transformation is as resource efficient as possible, elements and materials from the existing buildings are to be reused and returned to the material cycle during renovation and construction. The collective Baukreisel, which focuses on changing common construction practices – moving away from linear material flows toward the consistent reuse of existing building materials – is developing a ReUse concept for this purpose.

With our engineering expertise, we supported Baukreisel in preparing the deconstruction concept. For the dismantling process, we planned the sequence of necessary deconstruction steps, developed suitable cutting patterns, carried out structural verifications for the various dismantling phases, and defined temporary safety measures wherever required. Through this technical support, we enabled the reuse of the components and thus made a significant contribution to the development of a practical ReUse process for the Schlachthof district.
